Worthington Area Art League Minutes

 

March 20, 2008

 

The meeting was called to order at the Griswold Center, 7 pm, by President Bill Westerman.

Guests and new members were introduced and welcomed.

 Secretary Katie Fowle read the minutes for February 2008.

 Treasurer Ana Atwood gave the Treasury report for February 2008.

 Membership Chair Chuck Zelms gave the Membership report.  As of tonight’s meeting we now have 160 members, 33 of which are new.

Jayne Hopper spoke for the Nominating Committee.  Elections will be held in April for the 2008-2009 Board.  Nominated are:  Dennis Zimmerman – President, Jim Glover – Vice President, Katie Fowle – Secretary, and Ana Atwood – Treasurer.  Nominations are still being accepted.

 Ron Porta spoke about the High Road show “Art From the Heart” and thanked the volunteers for their help in the take in and hanging. 

 Katie Fowle talked about the Anthem Show “Spring is Sprung” from April 5-May 10.  There will be both a People’s Choice award and a Peer’s Choice award.  Also to be arranged will be a “Meet the Artists Day” in the cafeteria, with artists in the show.  The reception is April 13 from 2-4.

 Vivian Ripley made a motion that the award money be increased for People’s Choice and Peer’s Choice for the Anthem show.  The motion was for $75 for Peer’s Choice and $50 for People’s Choice.  It was seconded and voted on and the “Aye’s” had it.

 A suggestion also was made that monetary awards for honorable mentions be established.  Bill said this will be discussed at the next Board meeting.

 Charlie Rowland won People’s Choice award at the High Road show for “Streets of London.”

   Northwest Arts Partners Show at Concourse Gallery take in is May 12, show is May 15-June 13.

  Abbe Cheek accepted in Best of 2008 Exhibit at Ohio Craft Museum, 1665 5th Ave May 4-June 22.

  Painters 6+ show at First Community Church till April 5,

  WAAL Annual Spring Potluck Thursday May 17 at Griswold.

 Meeting adjourned. 

 After a break, there was a sketch session with live models from our League.
