The meeting was called to order by our outgoing president, Ernest Lockridge. In jest he related to the members present, "I am experiencing psychic dislocation in thinking about having to givepresidency". He introduced the newly nominated president, Aida Garrity. In addition he told members the slate of other nominated officers for the 2010-2011 year: Vice President, Jim Glover; Recording Secretary, Carolyn Woda; and Treasurer, Ana Atwood. The slate was unanimously approved by the present members.
New members Lin Zhao, Jila DaVoodi and Hamid Mehrizi introduced themselves to the group. A guest, Arlene Atkins, was introduced by Vi Hendershot.
For new business Chuck Zelms, Membership Chairman, gave his report. For the current year there are l78 paid members and there are 39 new members this year. Chuck also discussed the last show for the year at Motorists Mutual. He suggested one refer to the WAAL website (artinview) for further information on May/June show.
Ernest Lockridge discussed the May 20th pot luck and asked for volunteers to help.
Bill Westerman told of the Visual Arts Exhibit at the McConnell Arts Center and passed out applications. If you have questions please call the MAC.
Carol Hershey requested a chairperson for the October '10 show to be held in the High Road Gallery. She gave a brief philosophy of the gallery for the new WAAL members.
Ernest Lockridge announced the program for the evening. After the refreshment break a live model in a white dress posed for anyone wishing to draw or paint for the rest of the allotted time. Our program chairman and vice president Jim Glover had arranged for the life drawing session. Jim was unable to make the meeting due to a delay in his travels at the Detroit airport.
