Artists and Watermedia Enthusiasts, The Ohio Watercolor Society is sponsoring a program at the Middletown Fine Art Center featuring Warren Taylor. The program will be from 2-4 PM, Sunday, July15, 2007. Warren Taylor is this year's juror and workshop presenter for the Ohio Watercolor Society's annual exhibition. He's an instructor at Midland College in Texas and conducts classes in drawing, painting, watercolor and art history. His works have been included in both AWS and NWS juried exhibitions and are part of many private collections. His approach to watercolor is one of spontaneity and freshness. His compositions combine disparate objects such as children's toys and flower pots with imaginative landscapes. In teaching, he guides his students to a more spontaneous approach to watercolor, encouraging them to look at familiar objects and methods in a fresh, exciting manner. Warren will give a slide program and a short demonstration. The program is free and will be held at the Middletown Fine Arts Center on Verity Parkway in Middletown. 513-424-2417. Fall Watercolor Classes by Charles Rowland
will begin at the Westerville Community Center on September 17 with a class on Building Watercolor Skills, followed by a class on Painting Watercolor Landscaped and Seascapes beginning October 29. A summary of both classes is below. Classes are on Wednesday evening from

Building Watercolor Skills                       September 17 - October 22

 

This class builds on the basic watercolor skills to give your paintings a more finished and professional look. We will explore topics and techniques such as glazing, the use of hard and soft and lost and found edges, brushwork techniques, and a variety of other methods to add interest and pull your paintings together. We’ll also experiment with various tools and materials to enhance your painting. There will be a lot of instructor demonstrations and “hands on” time to develop your skills with these new painting techniques.

This class will benefit anyone who has basic watercolor painting experience and wants to move to the next level.

Painting Landscapes and Seascapes        October 29 - December 10 (No Class November 26)

Learn the techniques used to paint realistic representations of the elements found in landscapes and seascapes. In each class we will focus on one of the elements (skies, trees and shrubs, water, buildings, rocks and mountains, and figures, with lots of demos, individual assistance and learning by painting along with the instructor. Each day we will do a different painting.  Reference materials to paint from will be provided or bring your own photos.

All levels of experience are welcome.

Landscapes: Interior and Exterior

Wednesdays, 1 to 3:30 pm, Oct. 11, 18, 25, Nov. 1, 8, 16

We will explore how watercolor flows creating exciting patterns of colors using wet into wet and dry. Discover the keys to a great landscape painting no matter how little experience you have. Learn how to use textural effects with a few simple tools, plus how to use gouache, watercolor crayons, pencils and inks. These will be provided but bring all of your watercolor supplies, paper, paints, brushes, etc. Critiques of your paints are optional. Questions? Call Joe at 614-436-0836.



Cost & Registration Cost is $45 for Worthington residents and $58.50 for non-residents. Drop in at Griswold to register and pay, 777 High Street at Stafford . Registration on September 26 is for Worthington residents; September 27 is for non-residents who work in Worthington ; and September 28 is for other non-residents. Anyone may register on or after Oct 1st. There may be a 12-person limit on the class size – register early.
